Use the checks you already have

Print on the pre-printed checks you already have.

You ordered checks from your bank or a check printer, with your name, bank and account number already on them. SimpleChex prints only what you would otherwise write by hand: the date, payee, amount, amount in words, memo and signature. No more handwriting, and no wasted check stock.

Set up once, then just print

  1. 1
    Add your bank account
Enter the account the checks are drawn on, as it appears on your checks.
  2. 2
    Choose "Pre-printed checks"
Set the paper for that bank account. Use both blank paper and pre-printed checks? Pick "Both" and choose each time you print.
  3. 3
Print a test page and line it up
Hold the test page over one of your checks. Move anything that's off. Each bank account keeps its own line-up, and the preview updates as you type.
  4. 4
    Write and print
Load your checks in the printer and print. Only the fill-ins print, in the right spots.

Why pre-printed checks need a line-up

Every check printer puts the date line, payee line and amount box in slightly different places, and every office printer feeds paper a little differently. That's why SimpleChex keeps one line-up per bank account. Print a test page, compare it to a real check, nudge what's off, and it stays that way for every check from that account.

Checks you email are always sent as a complete check, whatever paper you print on.

Frequently asked

Will it print over my bank's MICR line?
No. On pre-printed checks SimpleChex prints only the fill-ins. Your check already has the MICR line, the check number and your bank details.
Can I use both blank paper and pre-printed checks?
Yes. Set the bank account to "Both" and pick the paper each time you print.
What if the text is a little off?
Print a test page from the bank account's line-up page and move the fields that are off. The change applies only to that bank account.
Does it work with QuickBooks?
Yes. Checks printed on pre-printed stock sync to QuickBooks Online the same way, with the same check number.
Is it free?
Yes, for one business and up to 10 checks a month. Solo is $5/month for unlimited checks.
