A deposit for a contractor, a school fee, a government form that only takes checks. When you need one check today, ordering a box and waiting a week makes no sense. SimpleChex prints a single bank-ready check on plain paper from your own account.
| Option | How fast | Cost | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Print it with SimpleChex | Minutes | Free (up to 10 a month) | Drawn on your own account, deposits like any check |
| Counter check from your bank | Same day, in branch | Often a small fee | Requires a trip during branch hours |
| Cashier's check | Same day, in branch | Typically a fee | Certified funds — use when the payee requires it |
| Money order | Same day | Small fee, amount limits | Certified funds, capped per order |
| Order a checkbook | About 1–2 weeks | Box of checks | Fine if you can wait |
Bank fees and limits vary. Check with your bank for counter checks and cashier's checks.
Yes, for normal payments. A check is an instruction to your bank to pay someone. What the bank needs is the right routing number, account number and check number in the MICR line at the bottom, a payee, an amount and your signature. SimpleChex prints all of it, including the MICR line in the standard E-13B font.
The one case where it isn't a substitute is when the payee asks for certified funds. Then you need a cashier's check or money order from your bank.
